Is your flag flying at half-mast today?
Today May 4th, during the National Remembrance, we commemorate the victims of World War II and of subsequent war situations and peace operations.

Tonight, the National Committee organizes the National Remembrance on Dam Square in Amsterdam. The King and Queen lay a wreath on behalf of the entire Dutch population, and (grand)children lay wreaths on behalf of survivors for various groups of war victims.

At 8:00 PM, there is a two-minute silence throughout the Netherlands.
Prior to the ceremony on Dam Square, there is a memorial service at De Nieuwe Kerk. The NOS broadcasts the memorial service at De Nieuwe Kerk from 6:45 PM. The National Remembrance is broadcasted on NPO 1.

Finally, below a few flag facts:
Did you know that according to flag regulations, the flag may only be flown at half-mast from 6:00 PM until sunset?
And that provinces, municipalities, and other government bodies are called upon by the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations to adhere to these flag regulations?
For individuals, institutions, and businesses, the flag regulations do not apply, and the flag is flown at half-mast all day. The flag is hoisted after the two minutes of silence.
